About us

Who are we?

Marine Guard – North Wales is a Community Interest Company started with the aim to provide conservation opportunities on a local basis for anyone wanting too get involved regardless of previous knowledge, experience or background.

Created primarily by divers & snorkelers based in North Wales, we have seen the problems facing our local coastline first hand. Having already started projects and campaigns we felt that opening these out to others will create impact on a wider scale as well as providing further opportunities to gain knowledge, training and experience in marine conservation.

What do we do?

Our main aim is to work to educate, protect and restore the coastline around North Wales. We currently have 5 key projects that we are focussing on. These can be found on our ‘Projects’ page.

All those involved with these projects do this on a not for profit basis.

Where are we based?

We are based in North Wales, hence the reason for working towards protecting our local coastline. It is our home, our waters and we want to do what we can to create a clean and safe environment for all, as well as marine life.

Why did we start?

The founders of the project have been completing conservation work on a small scale for a number of years already. These include debris clean ups both from the shore and under the water, ghost net removal, education of seals & other marine life people are likely to encounter, to name a few. All of these projects have been self-funded and conducted by a small group of individuals.

We felt that it was time to enhance the scale of these ideas, and share them with others that may wish to get involved. In turn giving the opportunity to meet new people who may have other contacts and ideas, as well as from a health and well-being aspect getting more people outdoors. Whilst all working towards the same key goal of a resilient North Wales Coast.
