Ghost Net & Debris Recovery

Discarded and lost fishing line, nets and pots are a common issue around our coastline. We conduct regular underwater clean ups both by snorkelling & diving to recover these items.

These projects involve training if those involved to ensure that this is done safely and correctly without causing further damage to the marine environment.

If you are a fisherman or another individual who has lost their fishing tackle/pots – please send the co-ordinates to us and we will do our best to assist with the recovery and return of them – contact us.

Education Boards

It is impossible for most to care about our marine life if they do not now it is there. That is why we created some educational boards placed around various North Wales & Anglesey bays. These boards give information on the marine life, and what actions can be done from an individual point of view to protect it.

Seal ID & Monitoring

As divers & snorkelers it is not unusual to encounter seals. They are inquisitive and reside along our local coastline. We provide educational talks all about them, as well as how to ensure that you do not actively disturb them out in the wild.

Whilst under the water the seals are generally close in contact, on their own terms, giving us the opportunity to obtain photos that can be used for specific identification in order to create a database of our local colony. This will in turn allow monitoring of the colony to provide ages, characterises and much more to assist with their safety & protection in the area.

Coastal Restoration

As with the rest of the world, North Wales has similar climate and reef deterioration issues. That is why we are working towards a number of projects within this area to restore and protect them. This includes:

  • Seagrass beds – working to educate the community on the need for sea grass, and how to ensure that it is not damaged during water sport activities.
  • Providing living sea walls in the area – this is something that we are currently working on obtaining.
  • Surveying – to provide data of how the area is doing and what actions can be taken to better preserve it.
